Where The Antelope play by FoldedWilderness Where The Antelope play by FoldedWilderness
"Oh, give me a home, where the buffalo roam,
Where the deer and the antelope play,
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day."

-Home on the range, Brewster Higley, John A. Lomax

Though posted only now, this is actually the first model I had attempted with hand-painted paper. The painting is plain because it was a test.

Model design by Andrés Fernando Sánchez Restrepo (listed as a gazelle)

Your origami animals are great, but the great photographs make the art even better

Excellent folding, as well as really nice staging! I can never get mine to stay in the trees...

Oh, it's not easy to have them stay and the wind often thwarts my valiant efforts too. ;p

Once again, just amazing.

Quick question though: How in the world do you have access to so many different climates at once? :XD: Or is it just me? :XD:

Thank you!

Well, living in Canada gives four distinct seasons and posting the pictures out of order helps to create some confusion. ;p

We do have a biosphere nearby, complete with a tropical climate and if I go there (more a question of WHEN) I'll make sure to drag along an origami, or two.

I use acrylic paint and it works well, though it can make the paper a bit thick.

Very nice. I love the processing of this one.
Since you asked for a critique, Ill chime in with this: I would have liked to have seen a break in the visual line from the pinecones at the top to where they visually merge with the antlers.
Otherwise, this is truly a great piece. Well done.

Thanks!
And for the critique, I agree with you, it would have been nicer if I had moved the branch a little to allow the antelope to be truly separated from the background. I didn't think about it then but, I'll remember this next time I shoot something to pay attention to this sort of thing. :)

Beautiful! The colors of your origami go well with the natural colors in the background, and it's an interesting piece to look at.
