I really love your imaginative use of origami. It's very far from snowing over here though - it's the last month of summer.

Aahh, what I wouldn't give to see the end of the snow and cold right now...

Winter is always great for a few days but, I'm in Canada so it stretches on forever.

wow, so cool! i've a similiar "project" where i take pictures of origami animals in a "real" location. i tried penguins last year but the paper got soaked in the snow and that didn't look good. =/ and my origami animals are not as complicated as yours. i'm not so good in it and i've very less time. =/
but this polar bear pictures are sooo coool!!

As for your project: I say go for it, I enjoy it very much and I also don't have a lot of time but, a little here and there does get results.
Also, don't worry about how complicated your models are, with a good idea and picture, it can be awesome, no matter if the model is simpler.

:D nice statistics..
up to 771 kilograms.

It is same as saying - humans can weight up to 500kg and average ...m in lenght.
Taking one heaviest speciment as a reference isn't a good idea

No, it is very different because animal obesity in the wild is not common, or hardly seen at all.
The number given for the weight is one of the highest within the upper range of the average size.
I will give you that it is above the highest "average" weight but, this is still a normal healthy number, unlike your example; where you give the weight of a morbidly obese person.

Also:
The largest recorded polar bear weighed a whopping 1,002 kilograms (2,209 lbs.) and measured 3.7 metres (12 ft.) long.
It is much more than 771kg.

If you want a real range of weight: it is more like this:

1-An adult male weighs around 350–680 kg (770–1,500 lb) Source: Wikipedia

2-Adult males normally weigh 351 to more than 544 kilograms (775 to 1,200 pounds). Source: polarbearsinternational.com

3-Weight: 900 to 1,600 lbs (410 to 720 kg) source: nationalgeographic.com

4-Adult males generally weigh between 720 and 1,700 pounds (363 and 771 kilograms). Source: kid.nationalgeographic.com

That last one (kid.nationalgeographic.com) is where I got the original numbers, look it up if you want.

I hope this helped you. :)

sorry, but average PB is somewhere around 550-600kg
not 770
I just interpreted "can weigh up to" as "average", though you meant "the heaviest speciments weight up to"

still, thanks for the info. You seem to love animals a lot :) and ori.. oreg.. err.. paperbending.

It's no problem, the thing I wrote in my picture was real numbers but, I choose the bigger ones to show just how big they can get and look impressive.

Thanks for the comments and critique, I always like it.

Hi, thanks for the comment.

I don't know how to make tutorials but, it's something I might learn one day.

The link you posted was cute, it is something that could be useful, like you said, to help decorate for a party, or for quick small gifts, thanks.

When I saw the thumbnail I thought these were pictures of real polar bears.

Polar bears can also remember your scent and track you for years D:

Thanks!

The polar bear is bigger in average size, so most of the big polar bears are bigger than the other big bears.

However, I think that the largest and heaviest bear ever found was a brown bear (a Kodiac)

This link might be useful.
