Autumn Blue Jay (Origami) by FoldedWilderness Autumn Blue Jay (Origami) by FoldedWilderness
“Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile.”
   -William Cullen Bryant (1794-1878)

While practicing to make a simple cardinal model by Roman Diaz, I used a paper that was white and blue.
It gave me the idea to try and make an actual blue jay and this is what resulted.

Made from an uncut square of paper , painted beforehand on both sides with acrylics.

Thank you very much.

I really enjoy going out and finding good spots for pictures, so it's really by trial and error that I end up with good pictures.

wait, if you painted beforehand, how did you keep the paint from cracking?

Acrylic paint can be very flexible and the one I use has a bit of a plastic-like finish, so it works out very well.

What brand of acrylics do you use? The last time I used painting my projects I had to use newsprint for folding.

Oops, sorry I missed you question before, I didn't mean to.

These days I use 'Amsterdam' paint.  www.dickblick.com/products/ams…

It is a middle ground quality paint and it gives much better results than the dollar-store brands I used to work with.
I have also tried and liked 'Basics' paint, which is quite similar to Amsterdam. www.dickblick.com/products/liq…

I see no need to buy any of the expensive brands, or so-called 'professional' ones at the moment.

Thanks, you should give it a try.  It takes just a bit of time and patience to learn the easier models and even then, there are some pretty cool ones.
